This Day That Age
The Madras Government have agreed to hand over the Engineering College at Guindy to the Government of India for converting it into a higher technological institute. Disclosing this in the State Assembly on April 4, Mr. C. Subramaniam, Minister for Finance and Education, said the State Government had agreed to hand over the college subject to the condition that specific reservation of admission for 100 students from the State was made in the college for a period of five years and an outright grant was made by the Central Government to enable the State Government to open a new engineering college. The matter would be discussed at the next meeting of the Southern Regional Committee of the All-India Council for Technical Education.
