ERODE: Demanding eviction of encroachers on a burial ground, residents of Vijaya colony, Appakudal, blocked Bhavani-Appakudal main road with the body of a woman late last night. Because of this, traffic was affected for three hours.

According to the police, in the Vijaya Colony about 150 Vanniyar families are residing.

Some affluent persons belonging to another community encroached upon the burial ground.

On Monday an old woman Angayee Ammal died and when the villagers took her body to the burial ground they were stopped by people belonging to another community.

The police and the revenue officials rushed to the spot and assured them that the encroachers would be evicted soon.
