ERODE: The police have arrested two dyers on the charges of tampering with the concrete seal of the Public Works Department (PWD) on pipelines in Vendipalayam area. The PWD officials had sealed 66 pipelines coming out from 66 textile dyeing units through which textile printing factory owners discharged the untreated effluents. But the seal was tampered with by three dyeing unit owners and they started letting out the effluents into the Kalingarayan canal. The Collector instructed the police to register cases against the three. Two textile dyers were arrested on Monday. Search is on for the other. The Collector, D. Karthikeyan, on Tuesday said that Wednesday was the last day for erecting Reverse Osmosis plants in tanneries and textile dyeing and processing industries. If it had not been done before evening, tanneries and dyeing units will be closed.
