Plea to appoint VC from Backward Classes

DSS urges Government to root out untouchability

Bangalore: Ever since its inception, Bangalore University has not had a Vice-Chancellor from the Backward Classes, N. Murthy, State president of Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti, has said.

Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, Mr. Murthy said the post of the Vice-Chancellor is vacant in Gulbarga, Kuvempu and Bangalore Universities. "The new coalition Government that has promised to do good for the State should appoint an able person from the Backward Classes as the next Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University," he said.
