VIJAYAWADA: Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU), in collaboration with Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) and NASSCOM will organise Career Awareness and Recruitment Drive (CARD) on April 22 and 23 at Maris Stella College. "It is basically an awareness drive aimed at informing students and their parents about the changing requirements of the industry," said K.C. Reddy, chairman of the council at a press meet here on Tuesday. He said seven companies would participate in the drive and major companies like Wipro may join soon. Students would get an opportunity to directly interact with representatives of various industries. This would help them focus on skill development, he said.
Need for skilled staff
Jobs in IT-enabled services were in great demand and coming days would witness business activity worth $300 billion in the IT sector, according to a NASSCOM survey. Though India had enough manpower, the industry was looking for skilled staff. Therefore, skill development became the need of the hour, he said. There was a shortage of 0.5 million skilled employees.

"A blend of positive attitude and communication skills is what the industry is hunting for," he pointed out. Director of Institute of Service Management (a wing of APSCHE) Sandhya said registrations would commence at 9.00 a.m. on both days.
