ITC arts fete gets under way

KOZHIKODE: Forest Minister A. Sujanapal said here on Tuesday that cultural contests should be conducted in an atmosphere of camaraderie and team spirit. Such contests, which brought persons of diverse tastes together, should be popularised, he said. Mr. Sujanapal was speaking after inaugurating the sixth State arts festival 2006, organised by the Industrial Training Department here on Tuesday. The festival will conclude on April 5. Over 1,200 participants from 14 districts are contesting in as many as 42 items. The following are some of the prize- winners in the items conducted on April 4.

Essay writing (Malayalam): First: Jithin Thomas (Kotakar ITC, Kannur); second: M.G. Binish (RSM ITC, Thrissur).

Mappilapattu (girls): P.P .Jumait (Ciasco ITC, Kozhikode-Wayanad); S.R. Asha Krishnan (Venus ITC, Thiruvananthapuram).

Mime: Godwin Benjamin and team (Jayamata ITC); V.T. Ajith and team (Central Technical College ITC, Kozhikode - Wayanad).

Mono-act: P.S. Kishore Kumar (Hightech ITC, Ernakulam); P.P. Mohammed Feroze (SV ITC, Palakkad).

Cartooning: P.T. Joseph Sojan (Don Bosco ITC, Ernakulam); K.N.P. Mohammed Jowhar (Safa ITC, Kannur).
