NEW DELHI: Despite the fact that Indian fashion designers are making waves in the global market, one well-known designer has chosen to pursue "spiritual painting" that is gaining popularity in the West. Pratiksha, niece of Acharya Rajnish "Osho", is all set to launch her collection of spiritual paintings in the United States. Starting mid-April, Pratiksha will be holding a month-long exhibition of her paintings at the prestigious New York Art Gallery. "I decided to begin from the U.S. as spiritual painting is being acknowledged as a unique art form in the West. Many tourists who visit Delhi approach me for spiritual paintings. So I thought of beginning my exhibition from the U.S.," said Pratiksha, adding that the show would be followed by an exhibition in Delhi. Interestingly, Pratiksha's art is not new to the U.S. "About a couple of years ago a curator of the Hawaii Art Gallery visited my store. She took my paintings for her gallery. Later she demanded more paintings, but I refused fearing that my paintings might be commercially exploited."
