BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan on Tuesday filed his nomination for the Budhni by-election. Before leaving in a procession for Sehore, the neighbouring district headquarters, to file his papers for the April 24 by-election, he drove to the State Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters here where he garlanded the statue of Deendayal Upadhyaya. Three former Chief Ministers -- Kailash Joshi, Sunderlal Patwa and Babulal Gaur -- State party president, Satyanarain Jatia, general secretary Kaptan Singh and Cabinet Ministers Narendra Singh Tomar and Raghavji were prominent among those present with Mr. Chauhan. They also attended a public rally after the filing of papers. Addressing the rally, Mr. Chauhan said he was in a dilemma over selecting the constituency to contest the by-election. The Chief Minister, who is the sitting MP from Vidisha, said the people of Vidisha wanted him to contest from their district. There was pressure from Pohri, Jabalpur and Ashta but even before he could take a decision the MLA from Budhni had vacated his seat.
