Hyderabad : WIPRO Chairman Azim H. Premji met Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy at Bangalore on Monday and apprised him of the company's expansion plans in Andhra Pradesh at an outlay of Rs 950 crore. Dr. Reddy invited Premji to Hyderabad to identify a suitable area for setting up his campuses. Mr Premji who paid a courtesy call on Dr. Reddy assured him that he would be shortly developing campuses within 100 acres of land in Hyderabad where the projected employment would be 15,000 and in seven acres in Visakhapatnam to offer employment to 750 professionals. Mr. Premji further sought an additional land allocation of 300 acres in Hyderabad and 50 acres in Visakhapatnam and said he proposed to invest Rs 750 crore on the first facility and Rs 200 crore on the second. K. Ratna Prabha, secretary, Information and Technology department, said in a press release on Tuesday that Mr.Premji lauded the Chief Minister's foresight and vision in making the State a knowledge hub. Dr. Reddy complimented Mr. Premji for his contribution to the growth of IT sector in particular and said his Government was ever willing to help companies set up shop in Andhra Pradesh. Presently WIPRO is operating in 30 acres of land at an investment of Rs 200 crore with 2000 employees whose number will soon grow to 5,000. WIPRO is also second largest exporter from the State with a turnover of Rs 970 crore in 2004-05.
