Staff Reporter
Dharmapuri: A total of 923 pulse polio booths will be established in the district during the first phase of pulse polio immunisation to be taken up on April 9. Of these, 903 booths would be set up in the panchayat unions, while the remaining would be set up in the Dharmapuri Municipality, said the Collector, M. Chandrasekaran, here on Tuesday. Adequate cold storage facilities to ensure that the cold chain remained intact during transportation were arranged, he said.
Remote villages
Arrangements were being made to reach the remotest of the villages to ensure that all children in the district were immunised. Camps were being established at Integrated Child Development Centres (ICDS), primary health centres, sub-health centres, noon meal centres, Government hospitals, railway station and bus stands, to ensure no child was left out.
4,000 staff
A total of 4,000 staff drawn from Health, Revenue, Social Welfare Departments, NGOs and volunteers would be roped in to administer polio drops to 1.5 lakh children in Dharmapuri district, he said. Along with this, mobile teams were formed to reach hilly terrain to cover children below 5 years. The Collector appealed to the public to bring their children to the nearest immunisation camp.
