Dharmapuri: Eight companies of paramilitary forces and Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP) will be deployed for security at all polling stations in Dharmapuri district. Additional security will be provided to 75 sensitive polling booths in the district. Still cameras will also be installed at these polling stations to monitor the polling process, said the Collector, M. Chandrasekaran, here on Tuesday. Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) was distributed to about 39 per cent (1,62,000) of the voters in the district during the second spell of the programme. Photographing of voters in Dharmapuri town would be carried out till April 9. The remaining voters would be covered till April 20 in about 40 link centres in the district.
78 zones
The total number of polling stations in the district was 1,177. The polling stations were divided into 78 zones to monitor the polling process. A total of 395 unlicensed guns in the district were surrendered till date, and 149 unlicensed guns were yet to be surrendered. The election observers for the five assembly constituencies in Dharmapuri district - Anil Swerup (Harur- Reserve), Anurag Rastugi (Morapur), Mohammed Ariz Ahamed (Palacode), Vinoth Kumar Pathak (Dharmapuri) and S.N. Kaarle (Pennagaram) - were expected to arrive from April 20. Yogesh Kumar Agarwal would be the expenditure observer, the Collector said.
