`CPI(M) riding roughshod over LDF'

Staff Reporter

KOLLAM: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala said here on Tuesday that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) was being systematically converted into a CPI(M) front. He was inaugurating an election convention of UDF candidate and Labour Minister Babu Divakaran in Kollam.

Mr. Chennithala said the CPI(M) was annihilating LDF constituents under the pretext of seat adjustment talks. Kollam, which was a traditional seat of the RSP, had been usurped by the CPI(M). He said the CPI(M) had usurped 11 seats from LDF allies across the State. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that in spite of having the potential to develop as a premier State in the country, the Left parties in general and the CPI(M) in particular had thwarted all development programmes in the State. He was inaugurating an election convention at Anchalumoodu for Kundara constituency UDF candidate Kadavoor Sivadasan. Mr. Chandy said this election would decide the course of employment and economic prospects of the State.
