NEW DELHI: The Heart Care Foundation of India and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi are jointly organising a "Perfect Health Parade" here this coming Thursday on the eve of World Health Day. The theme of the parade is "Working Together for Health", focusing on health care workers. To be inaugurated by Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri, the parade will begin at 11 a.m. from the Defence Colony flyover (opposite Moolchand Medcity) and culminate at Raj Ghat, covering a distance of over 50 km through the city. The parade will comprise multiple contingents of school children, nurses, doctors and other healthcare workers carrying banners and messages on vehicles. At a press conference here, Heart Care Foundation of Indian president K.K. Aggarwal said the parade was aimed at giving people a new mantra for perfect health and imparting knowledge about the importance of exercise and healthy living. The focus will be on health workers who have not been given the attention they deserve. Other organisations associated with the health parade include World Lung Foundation, South Africa (WLF -- SA), and Federation of NCR Doctors. WLF-SA president G.R. Khatri said the organisation would participate by spreading awareness about the prevention and management of lung diseases. Additional subjects covered by the parade will include asthma, high blood pressure, tobacco addiction, HIV/AIDS, diarrhoea, tuberculosis and DOTS.
