Highlight achievements of UPA Govt., Congress workers told

NEW DELHI: Speakers at the Yuva Maharally held at the Talkatora Stadium here urged the youth Congress workers to fan out to various parts of the country to spread the message about the achievements of the United Progressive Alliance Government including the recently launched rural employment scheme that would benefit lakhs of poor.

The rally was organised on the conclusion of the "Prerna Yatra" that was carried out in various parts of the Capital during the past one month.

Leading senior Congress leaders including Oscar Fernandes, Mukul Wasnik, Ashok Gehlot, Jagdish Tytler, R.K. Anand, DPCC president, Ram Babu Sharma and a number of MLAs and Councillors were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Fernandes complimented the Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress president, Amit Malik for having successfully organised the "Prerna Yatra". He said now the Congress workers should go to various parts of the country and spread awareness about the good work done by the Manmohan Singh Government and also the ideals of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Stating that the sacrifice by Ms. Gandhi was unprecedented, Mr. Fernandes said she had shown and upheld the highest standards of morality in public life.

Mr. Gehlot said it was the duty of the Congress workers especially the youth to highlight the achievements of the Congress-led Government at the Centre. He said youth had a very important role to play in nation building and urged them to follow the path shown by Mahatma Gandhi.

Mr. Malik said the yatra had got tremendous response from the people all over the Capital and promised to hold programmes in future also to spread the message of the Congress party.
