High Court summons Mahabubnagar Collector

HYDERABAD:
The District Collector of Mahabubnagar district has been asked to appear in person before the High Court to explain the inaction of the administration in dealing with sponge iron units which had come up amidst agricultural fields and fruit bearing gardens in Shadnagar area of Mahabubnagar district.
The bench comprising Justice Bilal Nazki and Justice Chandraiah was hearing the matter wherein the farmers have alleged that the sponge iron units have played havoc in their lives and authorities are silent spectators. The court on earlier occasions called for status reports and it was revealed that the agricultural fields were converted into industrial units and many laws were being violated. The bench felt that the presence of District Collector is necessary to adjudicate the matter.
