CHENNAI: Thirteen candidates of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Tuesday called on the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M. Karunanidhi. The Pattali Makkal Katchi founder S. Ramadoss. State secretary of the CPI (M) N. Varadarajan, and member of the central committee T.K. Rengarajan, were also present. Railway porters from various stations conveyed their thanks to Mr. Karunanidhi at the party headquarters. The porters said the DMK leader had intervened and stopped arbitrary suspension of their colleagues. They also requested him to use his good offices to ensure that medical facilities were available to their children.
