MANGALORE: Kalagangotri Yakshagana Adhyayana Kendra, Someshwar, will be organising a seminar to discuss the latest trends in Yakshagana and "Yakshagana bayalata" here on Saturday, according to Amrut Someshwar, writer and member of the kendra. Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, he said that playing of drums, bursting of crackers and the use of too much make-up and design have crept into Yakshagana performances in recent years. Owing to these developments the originality and essence of Yakshagana is fading away. The kendra will be organising this seminar to find a way to preserve the originality of Yakshagana. Seraje Seetharama Bhat, Yakshagana artiste, will deliver the keynote address. M. Prabhakar Joshi, Yakshagana critic and artiste, D.S. Sridhar, Sunnambala Vishveshwar Bhat and Kadri Navaneetha Shetty, amateur artistes, will respond to the keynote address. The seminar will be held at the Government Women Pre-University College at Balmatta.
