MANGALORE: The Additional Civil Judge (senior division) has stayed the action of the Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation K. Ashraf in disconnecting the water connection to the Fr. Muller Charitable hospital. In an order issued here on Tuesday, Additional Civil Judge (Senior division) S.R. Tulasiram had allowed the temporary injunction application of the plaintiff Fr. Muller Charitable Hospital and had ordered the Mangalore City Corporation not to cut the water connection to the hospital. It may be recalled here that the Mangalore City Corporation had cut the water connection to the hospital a month back when the Mayor took up a campaign against the illegal water connections from the main water line (18 million gallons a day). During the campaign, water connection to this hospital was cut. However, according to the hospital's documents the water connection had been functioning for the last 25 years under an agreement between the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board and the hospital. The connection was metered and payments were up to date, according to the hospital.
