TENALI (GUNTUR DT.): The Government Hospital here will get a fresh stock of rabies vaccination, new linen for the newborns in the maternity ward and a water heater. During a surprise inspection by Tenali MLA Nadendla Manohar on Tuesday, a woman patient, Malleshwari, said that the hospital authorities were sending her away for the past three days due to non-availability of rabies vaccine in the hospital.
Registers checked
Mr. Manohar enquired with the hospital authorities and checked the stock registers. All the 200 doses drawn for March had been exhausted. The hospital had drawn 265 doses since January. Mr. Manohar spoke to the district health authorities and instructed the Hospital Superintendent J. Hanumantha Rao to place indent and draw fresh stock immediately. Later, he went to the maternity ward and saw that all newborns were wrapped in dirty and soiled clothing. He instructed the authorities to draw fresh stock of linen. Mr. Manohar also instructed the officials to procure a water heater. He went around the hospital and interacted with the patients and hospital staff.
