Committee says majority of the workers should be reinstated

HYDERABAD: More than 300 employees of the erstwhile Nizam Sugars Factory Ltd (NSF) units who were forced retire, on Tuesday met members of the Assembly House Committee probing the prestigious factory's sale to Delta Paper Mills. The workers who had been waiting since morning to put forth their grievances could meet the members only in the evening. Soon after the meeting, committee chairman J. Ratnakar Rao invited the workers, who came from Shakkarnagar, near Bodhan in Nizamabad district. Bodhan MLA P. Sudarshan Reddy told the gathering that the committee had discussed the petitions submitted by the employees' unions. He said the panel opined that majority of workers should be reinstated.

The workers in a petition wanted the joint venture agreement between the Government and the factory withdrawn. While urging the Government to reinstate them, they said the panel during its visit to Shakkarnagar had seen the pathetic living of workers. .
