dated April 6, 1956: Manilal Gandhi dead

Mr. Manilal Gandhi, son of Mahatma Gandhi, died at his home in Phoenix, in the north coastal town of Natal near Durban on April 4. He had been ill for some time. Mr. Gandhi had been suffering from cerebral thrombosis following a stroke last December. He was Editor of the Durban newspaper Indian Opinion and an active opponent of the South African Government's racial segregation policy. He last visited India after Gandhiji's death.
