Applications pour in for inclusion in rolls

One-third of the forms are incomplete, say officials; Thursday is the last day

TIRUPUR/Erode: It is a tough job for officials. Applications seeking inclusion of names in electoral rolls are pouring in at the Revenue offices. As Thursday (April 6) is the last date for submission of Form 6, there are long queues in front of Revenue offices.

Last minute rush

In Tirupur Assembly constituency, the authorities received more than 7,500 applications so far, said V. Kandhavel, the Revenue Divisional Officer and Electoral Registration Officer. Of these, 500 applications were submitted on Wednesday.

Heavy crowd

There were heavy crowd in front of office of Revenue Divisional Officer at Erode, Gobichettipalayam and Dharapuram too.

The Erode Collector, D. Karthikeyan, said that the final list of voters was released already and the first supplementary list was published on March 7. The present applications would be perused and would be included in the second supplementary list.In two days, more than two thousand applications were received and by tomorrow they were expecting two thousand more applications.

Incomplete forms

The revenue authorities have been receiving the forms from voters for the last one-week.

Officers who involved in the verification of the applications said that one third of the forms were incomplete as there was no mention of their previous address and hence they would be rejected.

Field verification

After receiving the applications they have been sent to municipal staff or revenue staff for field verification on the same day, sources said.
