Kiran enters two finals

Mandya: C.M. Kiran's hardwork did not go in vain as he entered both the boys under-14 singles and doubles final of the AITA Talent Series at PET Courts here today.

The Mysore lad, who overcame Dheeraj Kumar 7-6, 7-6 in the quarterfinals, defeated K. Sachi of Andhra Pradesh 6-2, 6-3 in the semifinals.

The baseline duel was marked by a good deal of lobbing by both the lads. Kiran next meets Vinod Gowda, who out-hit Chirag Igoor 6-0, 6-4 in the other semifinals.

In the boys' under-16 singles, Vikas Hansoge continued his dream run and defeated Rohan Gaonkar 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals. He meets the winner of the clash between Naveen Sai (TN) and Vinod Gowda.

In the girls' section, top-seed Likitha Devaraj, who packed a solid forehand, disposed of Soujanya (AP) 6-1, 6-1 to make the under-16 singles final. She meets the winner of the contest between Nayantara and Rachana Gowda.

Likitha however gave a walkover in the under-14 singles semifinal against Natasha Palha of Goa, as she found the task of playing two back-to-back matches too taxing.
