KARUR: Peaceful and secured life, bereft of any caste or communal clash, during the past five years, coupled with several people-oriented welfare measures in many fields have made people realise that this All India Anna Dravida Muneetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) government should continue, the Marumalarchi DMK General secretary, Vaiko has said. Addressing wayside meetings at Thennilai and Aravakurichi as part of his electioneering in Karur district to canvass support for his party candidates for Aravakuruchi Constituency, Monjanur P. Ramasamy, on Wednesday, Mr. Vaiko said he visualised mass wave in support of the Democratic People's Alliance in the places he has so far visited. At Thennilai, he recalled the "sacrifice" of Nochipatti Dhandapani, a staunch Vaiko supporter, who immolated himself when Vaiko was expelled from the DMK 12 years back. He said such sacrifices by his supporters are beginning to yield result now. Turning his attention to the DMK poll promise of providing rice at Rs. 2 per kg, Mr.Vaiko wondered how that party, which did not even question the Centre's move to hike the issue price of ration rice, could now claim to provide rice at a much subsidised price . Jotting his speech with achievements of the AIADMK government and virulent attack on his ex-ally, the DMK, Mr. Vaiko said the Democratic People's Alliance would sweep the polls, a point which he had shared with the media at Monjanur near Aravakurichi.
