THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The evaluation of the answer sheets of the SSLC examinations began at 53 centres across the State on Wednesday. Examination secretary L. Rajan told The Hindu here on Wednesday that the results could be expected after May 25. The valuation camps will be held in four phases; the first phase will be till April 10. The last phase will be from May 5 to May 10. The evaluation is being staggered in this manner in view of the Assembly elections. Nearly 14,500 teachers are taking part in the camps, which have been bracketed into four zones - south, south-central, central and north. Valuation is being held simultaneously for all the papers. According to Mr. Rajan, all teachers who were given valuation duty reported for work at the camps. Special security arrangements have been made at all the camps to enable valuation to proceed smoothly, he added. The scheme of evaluation was finalised at a two-day `scheme finalisation camp' held in Kochi on Sunday and Monday. Critical evaluation criteria, including the `scoring indicators' and answer keys, were discussed at this `residential camp.' "Even though we are mostly going with the keys provided by the question setters, some modifications have been made. These changes have been made after extensive discussions with those on the field," Mr. Rajan said.
