GUNTUR: Banking transactions in all branches of the State Bank of India (SBI) in Guntur district under Vijayawada zonal office remained paralysed as the agitation by employees reached third day on Wednesday. Many customers who came to withdraw money from their accounts were a disappointed lot. Senior citizens went to collect their pension at a few branches in the city in the hope that bank would reopen. "Had we known of this strike, we would not have come all the way to the bank at Nagarampalem, said Rathnamma, who had come all the way to Kannavarithota from Vidyanagar."It is an arm-twisting tactic of the bank employees. Why do you think they have chosen the beginning of the month for protest, when we all have to draw our salaries," questioned a Ramanaiah, a State Government employee. Middle class customers are the worst affected, said Vishweshwara Rao, a railway employee.
