Gang robs woman of jewellery, cash

BANGALORE: A four-member gang barged into a house in Madivala police station limits on Tuesday and robbed a woman and her two daughters of gold ornaments estimated at Rs. 80,000 and cash.

The police said the incident occurred around 9.30 a.m. at the house of Parvathamma in Siddharthanagar. The intruders, who were armed with knives, threatened Parvathamma and her two daughters, relieved them of their gold jewellery and made away with cash from a cupboard. The Madivala police have registered a case.

Killed in accident

Gangadhar (30) of Fraser Town was killed when a lorry rammed his motorcycle in Indiranagar traffic police station limits on Tuesday night.

The police said the accident occurred around 10.15 p.m. on Old Madras Road, off the BDA Complex. Gangadhar, who was injured, died at a hospital. The lorry driver abandoned the vehicle and ran away after the accident. The Indiranagar traffic police have registered a case.

Run over

A man aged 30 was run over by a train on Bangalore-Mysore tracks. On Wednesday morning, a passer-by saw the mutilated body lying on the tracks near Deepanjalinagar and informed the police. The City Railway police, who have registered a case, said the body was slit into two pieces.

Dies of wounds

A 38-year-old woman, who was stabbed at her house on March 29, died at the Victoria Hospital on Tuesday night.

The police gave her name as Lalitha, a resident of 6th Cross, Hegganahalli, in Rajagopalanagar police station limits. Around 11.45 p.m. on March 29, some one knocked on the door of Lalitha's house.

When Lalitha and her husband Ramakrishna (40) opened the door, four men enquired an address with them. When Ramakrishna, a school clerk, told them that he was not sure of the address, they stabbed him and Lalitha in the abdomen. The injured couple were admitted in Victoria Hospital, the police said. The Rajagopalanagar police have registered a case.

Fire accident

Two fire tenders put out a fire that broke out at a business establishment in Rajajinagar police station limits on Tuesday night. The police said that following an electric short circuit, fire broke out on 78th Cross, 5th Block, Rajajinagar.

Arrested

The Jayanagar police have arrested Jyothi (30) of Hosakerehalli on a charge of theft and recovered from her Rs. 30,000 in cash.

The police said that on March 10, Jyothi had allegedly stolen cash from the handbag of Chitra, a student, while she was travelling by a BMTC bus from Jayanagar 9th Block to Jayanagar 4th Block.
