The company proposes a refilling plant in the North

CHENNAI: Refex Refrigerants Ltd., a Chennai-based company having a joint venture with the Singapore-based Kaltech Engineering & Refrigeration Pte. Ltd., has decided to set up a refilling plant in Northern India. The company proposes to invest around Rs. 10 crore on the expansion programme, which will include doubling of capacity, setting up of refilling tanks and adding more cylinders. At present, the company has a state-of-the-art refilling and storage facility at Thiruporur in Kancheepuram district of Tamil Nadu. It refills 40 tonnes of HFCs a month, which would go up to 250 tonnes by June this year.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the Managing Director of Refex Refrigerants Ltd, Anil Jain, said a wide variety of refrigerant management solution-HFC (hydro fluoro carbons) based products had been launched. The chloro fluoro carbons (CFCs) were ozone-depleting products and were being phased out in India.

Mr. Jain said the application areas for these products included refrigerators and air-conditioners, both home and car. Refex Refrigerants was founded with a view to fighting against the ozone depleting products and bringing in their substitutes for a greener and cleaner world.
