New Delhi: Strongly criticising arrests and detention of political leaders and others in Nepal, India on Thursday said such actions by King Gyanendra's Government were ``counter-productive'' and demanded their immediate release. ``The situation is an evolving one. For the present, let me only say that we are concerned over the arrests and detention, once again, of several political leaders, professionals and students which we strongly deplore,'' said External Affairs Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna here. Mr. Sarna said such actions by the Nepal government were ``counter-productive'' and underlined the need for ``cooperation'' and ``not confrontation'' among the constitutional forces there. PTI
