PONDICHERRY: Police on Thursday conducted a house-to-house search for arms in the Kuruchikuppam fishing hamlet. A team of police and the bomb squad were at it for more than four hours but found nothing. According to the SP North B Ramaskandhan the search was based on information that bombs and lethal weapons were stored in houses. In the recent past, there were violent clashes between two factions of fishing community.Six months ago, the community leaders ostracised a group of people for their alleged misappropriation of tsunami funds. Those ostracised were heading the fishermen association earlier. Since then the members are staying in another village. Police have been making efforts to bring them back.
