JAIPUR: The Central Government has sanctioned projects worth Rs. 45 crores for urban development in Rajasthan as part of two schemes launched recently, making the desert State the first where three towns have been selected under the integrated housing and slum development programme. Rajasthan is also one of the three States selected for implementation of the urban integrated development programme for small and medium towns. A dozen cities in the State have been selected for these projects, while the other two selected States are Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat. The Minister of State for Local Self Government, Pratap Singh Singhvi, said here on Thursday that projects worth Rs. 9 crores had been approved for Tonk, Gulabpura and Bikaner. Works relating to repairing of roads and construction of drains, community buildings, and community toilets in the slum colonies will be taken up under the scheme. Mr. Singhvi said the funds sanctioned for the projects included Rs. 4.46 crores for Tonk, Rs. 1.24 crores for Gulabpura and Rs. 3.32 crores for Bikaner.
