The district along with Kozhikode, Wayanad, Palakkad, Thrissur and Malappuram districts will go to polls on April 29 (second phase).

The Election Commission has set up a three-member committee to give clearance for political advertisements to be broadcast through television channels and on cable network in connection with the elections.

The Committee, chaired by Joint Chief Electoral Officer P.S. Nataraja Pillai, has Thiruvananthapuram Collector N. Ayyappan and Executive Producer of Thiruvananthapuram Doordarshan Kendra T. Chamiyar as members. Applications for broadcast of advertisements can be made at the office of the chairman in the Legislature Complex between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on all days. National parties should apply three days before the broadcast and State parties seven days before the broadcast with three copies of the material and script.

An official release said channels and cable networks should ensure that political advertisements broadcast by them carried the certificate of the committee.
