BANTWAL: When the National Democratic Alliance led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) conducted nuclear tests at Pokharan, it stunned the world. Likewise, the State unit of the BJP pulled off a coup of sorts by joining hands with the Janata Dal (Secular) to provide credible governance, Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa had said. Addressing a Bantwal taluk-level party workers' meet here on Thursday, Mr. Yediyurappa said it was the wish of the people to see the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Janata Dal (S) combine to form the Government. Advising his party cadre to set aside their political differences to ensure good governance, he urged them to work in tandem with the Janata Dal (S) cadre. Mr. Yediyurappa said through the budget the Government had reached out to socially and economically marginalised sections of society. B. Nagaraja Shetty, Minister for Fisheries, Religious Endowment and Horticulture, and MLAs N. Yogish Bhat, Padmanabha Kottari and T. Shakuntala Shetty were present. Pratap Simha Nayak, president of district unit of the BJP, presided over the meeting. Devadas Shetty, president, Bantwal Assembly Constituency, welcomed the gathering. Party office-bearers were present.
