Bangalore: What better brand ambassador can the Karnataka Gold Festival 2006 have than Sridevi? Decked in humungous gold bangles, necklace and long earrings that weighed down her dancer wrists, neck and ears, the bijli ki rani bedazzled Bangalore on Thursday at the launch of the second edition of the gold binge that will hit the city. Organised by the World Gold Council and The Art of Jewellery, the 40-day event hopes to spur people into buying more gold. The festival is not limited to any venue. Starting April 10 and running till May 20, it is on at over 250 jewellery stores across Karnataka. A five-kg gold prize will be shared by over 276 winners. On every purchase of gold jewellery worth Rs. 2,000 at participating stores, the customer is entitled to lucky draw coupons.
