Power cut may continue for some time

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Power shutdowns for short durations may continue for a while in parts of the city, a senior Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) official told The Hindu on Thursday.

"There is a system constraint in South Bangalore. The system is unable to handle the overload. It is a temporary problem that will be sorted out soon," the official said. The areas to be affected include Subramanyapura, HSR Layout, Audugodi, Sarakki and Koramangala. The power stations there are finding it difficult to handle the heavy load.

The daily consumption of power has increased owing to the use of air conditioners. BESCOM has resorted to load shedding to tackle the situation.
