HYDERABAD: Six priority areas will be the focus of attention during Praja Patham, the Congress Government's programme of taking the administration to the door step of people, which will begin on April 10. Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, his cabinet colleagues and elected representatives are slated to participate in it. During the programme, people will be asked whether they are getting drinking water, power supply for seven hours, ration cards, loans for self-help groups at reduced interest, the severity of the problem of migration of labour, and whether construction of houses under Indiramma has begun. Complaints will be attended to by issuing on-the-spot instructions to officials. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the Chief Minister said he would inaugurate Praja Patham on April 9 itself as he would be pre-occupied with the meeting on farmers' suicide being convened by Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar here the following day. The mass contact programme would culminate in assets distribution at all district headquarters on May 13. This would be followed by celebrations to mark completion of two years in office by the Congress Government on May 14.
Two phases
The Chief Minister said the State was better placed this summer in terms of drinking water. Yet, he was undertaking Praja Patham as it was only through such direct contact that democracy would be meaningful. It would be held in two phases from April 10 to 28 and from May 7 to 12 in areas selected for Indiramma.
