NEW DELHI: The nationwide indefinite strike by the State Bank of India employees entered its fourth day on Thursday, causing great inconvenience to customers across the Capital. Apart from government departments that have their accounts with the bank, even ordinary customers have been left in the lurch as they are unable to withdraw money from various branches of the bank in the city. The top functionaries of the SBI have been claiming that their ATMs were functioning, but a majority of them in the Capital and in the neighbouring townships of Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Noida and Faridabad ran out of cash on the very first day of the strike.
Though the SBI has an agreement with ATMs of other public sector banks from where its customers can withdraw money, elderly people are finding it difficult to withdraw cash due
And with no sign of the strike getting over soon, the SBI customers are a worried lot as over 1,000 bank branches in the Delhi region have remained closed since the beginning of this week. The problems of ordinary customers as well as traders banking with the SBI has aggravated due to the timing of the strike.
