CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday sought cooperation of the people's elected representatives, voluntary organisations and administrators for creation of a healthy society in the State. Inaugurating a multi-speciality health camp in Faridabad, he said that special efforts would be made to provide essential appliances and artificial limbs to the needy handicapped, blind, deaf and dumb and extension of medical facilities at the doorsteps of the poorest of the poor. Special health camps would be organised in all the districts, he added. Stating that the year 2006 was being observed as year of the girl child, he claimed that the PNDT Act was being implemented strictly to check incidents of female foeticide.
Yoga
He further advised the people to take to yoga to maintain good health and prevent diseases. Health Minister Kartar Devi said that 240 delivery huts had become functional to provide timely facilities to the pregnant and nursing mothers and 60 more such huts would be set up till the end of this month. The Director General Health Services, Dr. N.K. Sharma, said that the annual budget of the Health Department had been enhanced from Rs. 45 crores to Rs. 80 crores to provide best medical facilities.
