End strike, SBI Chairman tells employees
Mumbai
: State Bank of India chairman A. K. Purwar on Friday appealed again to the striking employees to resume work. The Government was ``closely examining'' their demands and could soon take a ``review.''
Mr. Purwar said the bank suffered ``huge'' losses and its business was going to other banks. ``I have been assured by the Government that they are very closely examining [the demands] and they could be taking a review shortly,'' Mr. Purwar told NDTV. ``Huge...unbelievably huge [loss] for the bank, for the people in the bank and the Indian economy,'' he said as the strike entered the fifth day on Friday.
