Raghavulu's yatra against untouchability gets physical

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Dalits gained entry into a temple by breaking open the locks and performed puja on the occasion of Srirama Navami, under the supervision of CPI (M) State secretary B.V. Raghavulu, as part of his cycle yatra at Ekmai village of Pet Basheerabad mandal in Ranga Reddy district on Friday.

Mr. Raghavulu and his accompanying cyclists reached the village on the sixth day of their yatra against untouchability. On coming to know that Harijans of the habitation did not have access to the temple for decades, the cyclists sent for the pujari but he was not available. This prompted the mob to break the locks and enter the temple. They also performed puja by breaking coconuts.
