Coimbatore: The District Revenue officials in three different raids conducted on Monday and Tuesday have seized 67 bags of rice that were stocked in two premises. Following a tip-off, the District Revenue Officer, M. Karunakaran, deputed the flying squad team that raided a storehouse in Rahul Gandhi Nagar of Udayampalayam and seized 53 bags of ration rice. The bags were lying unclaimed and those who had stocked it had fled from the scene. In another raid conducted at Podanur railway station, the officials found 14 bags of rice lying unclaimed. The rice bags have been seized. In a drive against misuse of subsidised domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes, the officials seized six domestic cylinders that were used in bakeries, tea stalls and eateries in Puliakulam, Meena Estate and KVR Nagar areas.
