Discount offered in Tirupati package trip

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) is offering 5 per cent royalty discount for tourists taking their packaged tours to Tirupati from Bangalore, said S. Kalyan Chakravarthy, assistant manager of the APTDC's Central Reservation Office.

He told presspersons here on Saturday that the discount would be offered to tourists from Monday. At present, APTDC has five coaches that go to Tirupati every day. "We offer tourists everything, except food. The package tour includes room rent, seva and prasadam charges," he said. He said that the royalty discount was being offered as part of the second anniversary celebrations. "APTDC set up the reservation office in Bangalore in April 2004. To commemorate that we are offering the royalty discount," he said. Mr. Chakravarthy said the royalty discount would be on transportation charge alone, which was about Rs. 42 per seat for Volvo buses and Rs. 26 for hi-tech non-air-conditioned buses. "Two Volvo coaches leave for Tirupati at 7.30 p.m. Tourists opting for this will get a special darshan at Tirumala at around 6 a.m. and reach Bangalore at 4 p.m. For details, call 51136373.
