MYSORE: The Mahaveer Jayanti celebrations to be held here will be marked by the inauguration of a hi-tech eye hospital in the city on Tuesday. Bhagavan Mahaveer Darshan Hospital, which falls in the super-speciality category, has been funded by Sri Smathinath Jain Swetambar Murthy Pujak Sangh, an organisation of Swetambar Jains. It will provide total eye-care solutions of international standards, high-quality and low-cost eye-care services to people in and around Mysore, and training and continuing medical education to ophthalmologists and optometrists. It will also conduct free eye surgery camps in rural areas in the district. The hospital has a built-up area of 12,000 sq. f. and has bio-clean air-conditioned operation theatres for micro-surgery. Some of the facilities to be offered by the hospital include out-patient ophthalmic consultation, foldable intraocular lens implantation, keraoplasty, glaucoma surgeries, and refractive eye surgery.
