Bangalore: `New Directions,' overseas educational consultants here, organised an education fair, `Study in Holland' on Saturday. Five government recognised universities from Holland, offering a plethora of courses ranging from business to biotechnology, were represented at the fair. Basavaraj who obtained a doctorate in immunology from Wageningen University, a famous institution that was represented at the fair, said: "Holland has a very `open' society structure. International students are welcomed into their country and encouraged. Deserving students are granted a five-year work permit that allows them to stay on and explore the Dutch job scene." The Government of Holland is very supportive of international educational ventures. About 75 per cent of the tuition fee for undergraduate courses is paid by them. Scholarships and fee waivers are offered to deserving candidates. It is easy to transfer credits from Indian universities to Holland. Once a college accepts you as a student visa applications are handled by the college itself.
