Bangalore: "Capture Krishna 2006," a national-level photography contest hosted by International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), was launched at the multi-vision theatre on the ISKCON temple premises here on Sunday. T.W. Sudhakara, Assistant Director General of the Department of Tourism, who was the chief guest, will kick start the event. The photography contest is to be held during the Brahmotsava from April 11 to 23. Nearly 250 photographers from different parts of the country will participate in the event.
Unique event
According to a press release issued here on Sunday, "Capture Krishna 2006" is a unique event that offers photographers creative freedom to capture on frame the nuances of the temple and the festivities in several perspectives. Cash prizes and awards will be given to best visuals. The release said that the Brahmotsava celebrations will provide the participating photographers several opportunities to capture the spectacle. During the Brahmotsava, the temple will be decorated and the idols of presiding deities will be festooned in different "alankaras" and taken out in a procession on special "vahanas." Music and dance programmes and a colourful display of fireworks will be held in the evenings.
