RTC records lowest accident rate
According to M.V. Krishna Rao, Managing Director of the RTC, the corporation is able to bring down accident rate for lakh km from 0.19 per cent to 0.10 per cent in 2004-05. It was 0.11 per cent in 2005-06. In compliance with the High Court's directive, a special drive has been launched to conduct medical examination for all RTC drivers, he has said in a statement. - Special Correspondent

According to the police, one Siva was allegedly pestering Afreen, 16, and fixed a deadline to accept his marriage proposal or face the consequences. On Tuesday evening, the mother-daughter duo consumed poison. They were taken to a hospital where Dilshad, 38, succumbed while, Afreen is still battling for life.
