NEW DELHI: Members of United Students, a youth movement initiated by the non-government organisation People's Action, on Monday rejected the Government's proposal to enhance reservations in educational institutions.

In a statement, the organisation said that merit was being sacrificed at the cost of social identities and that the proposal was a "reverse caste system''. It further stated: "The Government's failure at the primary school level is the real cause for inequity in our country and increasing reservations will not solve the problem."
