Rajahmundry: Minister for Roads and Buildings, Jakkampudi Ramamohana Rao has said that the Government is very keen on creating infrastructure and buildings for schools in rural areas. He reiterated that the Government was committed to giving quality education to rural children on par with urban areas.
Grama sabha
After launching `Praja Patham' programme in Rajanagaram rural mandal on Monday he participated in Grama Sabha along with district Collector Praveen Prakash. The Minister said that they had taken up Venkatanagaram pumping scheme with Rs.90 crores to give water to irrigation and drinking water schemes in Kadiam constituency. He said that the Government had sanctioned Rs.20 crores for drinking water facility for villages in Bommuru and Rajanagaram and they were going to construct protected water scheme on Bommuru hilltop. He aid that they were going to provide infrastructure to hospitals by sanctioning additional buildings and upgrading the primary health centres. The Minister sought the cooperation of philanthropists to come forward in facing water crisis during the summer season. The Collector said that they would give priority to 24-hour power supply and local issues in the villages during this Praja Patham. He recalled that they had decided to extend Rs.170 crores as loans for 25 paise interest and it would be enhanced to Rs.250 crores in the next year. He said that the Government had already announced 90,000 houses for poor in the district and asked the beneficiaries to construct the houses immediately after sanction. The Minister and Collector gave away Rs.6.83 crores to beneficiaries including to HIV-affected children.
