Mouth-watering dishes at Oxford



COLOURFUL FUNCTIONS: At the valedictory of St. Thomas Public School, New Thippasandra; and students performing at Blossoms Fest 2006 at Blossoms School, Kanakapura.

BANGALORE: In an effort to provide information on the art and culture of the State among its students, The Oxford English School, Nagarabhavi, celebrated "Oxford Habba" in a unique way. The children decorated their classrooms with "taliru torana", flowers and "bale kamba". Students had a chance to relish the dishes of the State. Obbattus, payasas, kadubus and other mouth-watering dishes of the land were prepared and kept in earthen bowls. The girls were dressed in saris and the boys in dhotis and shalyas. "It was an occasion to inform children of the uniqueness of festivals of the State," said principal H.N. Usha. Ravindranath, president of the institution, was present.

Valedictory

St. THOMAS Public School, New Thippasandra, bid farewell to its outgoing students of SSLC. Rev. V.T. Josen, who was the guest of honour, told the students to "be like a candle and spread the light of wisdom". Principal M.C. Thomas stressed the need of love and compassion in today's world.

The students shared the memories of school life and thanked their mentors and teachers. The school choir entertained the audience with melodious songs.

`Once upon a rhyme'

THE TINY tots of Bishop Cotton Girls' School had a whale of time at the "Once upon a rhyme" programme held recently. Dressed in colourful attires, they presented many of their favourite nursery rhymes such as "Chook... chook... train", Balloon man, "Cats sleep anywhere", "Billy boy", "Sunday morning" and "Daisy, Daisy".

Angela Roye, Principal of Early Childhood Education, was the chief guest. She appreciated the performance of the children. "They proved themselves fully developed in all the fields of multiple intelligence," she remarked. She gave tips to parents on how to improve the performance of their children.

Counselling

AUDEN INSTITUTE of Education, Banashankari, organised a counselling session for parents and teachers recently. Jagadeesh of Abhaya Hospital conducted the interactive session on handling of adolescents along with his team comprising of Ruchi Gupta and Manav. The team replied to the queries from parents as well as teachers.


Blossoms Fest

BLOSSOMS SCHOOL, Kanakapura, celebrated Blossoms Fest 2006 in a unique way. A few students were selected as the chief guests. Vidya K.V. of Standard IV, Bibi Afra of SSLC, Swathi M. of Standard IX and Sandhya K.S. of Standard V, enjoyed being chief guests and did their job to perfection.

Students participated with energy and enthusiasm. They presented dances and folk songs at the festival. "The day was eagerly awaited by them," said principal Gangambika.
