Congress CDs for panchayat polls

Special Correspondent

20-minute feature to focus on State's `pro-farmer' policies

Hyderabad: The Congress party is all set to launch its campaign documentary for the Panchayat polls - likely to be held during May-June.

The 20-minute feature conceived by the former MLA of Miryalaguda R.Srinivas is woven around the Congress Government's claim of pro-farmer policies. It begins as a conversation among villagers near the `ratcha banda' (village square) on the merits and demerits of the present Congress Government and previous TDP regime.

The Government's emphasis on rejuvenation of the rural economy through `Jala Yagnam', agriculture and allied fields, social and minority welfare sectors and other welfare measures find a mention in it. The policies of Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi for the uplift of rural masses prominently figure in it.

The documentary is made in a folk-art form to attract the rural voters.

Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy will view it on Wednesday along with other leaders. The party plans to distribute five CDs each to Mandal-level leaders for the campaign.
